What I Do...

Graphic designer, fly-fisherman of distinction & author of many an unpublished masterpiece. Sigh...
— That's what my twitter bio says about me.

Art, design, music. Discussing, cussing, cooking. Chatting, talking, tweeting. Listening, laughing, biking. Driving, flying, hiking. Fishing, climbing, camping. I have run two marathons & enjoy a pint in good company...
— That's how my cv puts things.

So I guess that i'm all of the above, for better or worse. Primarily though, I'm a nerd who best enjoys life sitting in front of his Mac experimenting and playing with his design applications. A terrible thing — unless you are someone who would like to hire me. Then i guess it's a very good thing.

Some of the recent "experimenting and playing" cited above involved designing and developing a social networking website for a particular target market. From the basic concept, we not only developed a fully-functional website, but also a complete business plan, revenue projections, growth expectations and all the rest to go with it...we must have done something right because we managed to sell the whole package on for a profit!

So that's me — Graphic designer. And some other stuff. Make sure you view my portfolio below otherwise this whole exercise in shameless self promotion has been an utter waste of time :)

Ahem. Excuse me, do you see that little green dot above on the map there? That's Ireland, where I'm from.

How I've Done It...

Graduating in graphic design, June 2000, I moved straight to London to accept a job offer from Umbro. It was there that i set about learning my trade. The job was broad, involving plenty of design for print but primarily online design — sites, micro-sites, online store designs, advertising banners and so on.

I left Umbro after a year to work with a former colleague from Umbro in Charity Technology Trust (CTT), an exciting new philanthropic venture that was looking for a way to take traditional charity paper raffles to the online community and opening the door, in the process, to the corporate world. And that was what we did, along with donation engines, email marketing applications and competition sites. During this period I also worked as an independent contractor.

In March, 2004 i returned to Dublin. Still operating as a contractor, I set up what was eventually to become Click And Rush Design Studio.
